SEPWA Harvest Review 2026
The Profitability Squeeze: Margins Under Pressure

2025 delivered record production across the Esperance Port Zone — and many businesses reported strong profits.

But those profits were largely yield-driven.

Per-tonne margins remained tight. Input costs stayed high. Wheat returns disappointed relative to cost. The year highlighted how exposed profitability can be when margin relies heavily on production volume.

This year’s Harvest Review will unpack:

  • What drove profit in 2025
    • Why margins were so tight
    • And where a 25% profit improvement could come from in 2026

From crop choice and freight pathways to drainage investment and machinery capital decisions — this is a practical, commercially grounded day.
